Chalmers Teknologkonsulter had the opportunity to do an interview with CTK alumni Josefin Carlberg and asked her some questions about her time with us and where she is now.
Where do you work and what do you do?
I am a Management Consultant at the Finance & Performance Management practice at EY.
What is the best advice you would give somebody that is thinking about joining CTK?
That school is only preparing you for a fraction of the skills necessary to have a successful career. By actually using your newly attained knowledge in real practical cases you develop an even deeper understanding of the subject and learn to distinguish the gaps between theory and practice. Furthermore, I’d like to emphasize the enrichment of working with people who have a different competence than yourself. Chalmers tend to be a bit siloed depending on the program you attend. At CTK you get to interact and work with people from different programs which will extend your knowledge base not only professionally, but personally as well.
How did your work at CTK prepare you for the work you do today?
As former CEO and member of the board there are numerous skills I developed which I use today. I would like to highlight three specifically. (1) Driving business – As CEO I had the foremost responsibility for sales, client relations and the balance sheet for the entire company. However, at CTK, it is not only in the top ranks where this is required, or encouraged. Everyone at CTK have the ability to drive business by looking for opportunities and convert them into projects. (2) Practical skill – As stated earlier, one major benefit of working at CTK is that you actually get to use your theoretical skills practically. Not only will you deepen and have a more accurate understanding of a subject, you might also discover particular subjects you find more interesting, which can help you guide your search for employment after school. Last but probably the most important, (3) Network – Clients, Partner companies and fellow co-workers, everyone you are in contact with during your time at CTK can be helpful in your professional career in the years to come.
